My Story

I come from a small town, and the values of community, honesty, and hard work have stayed with me throughout my career as a designer. Those principles shape how I approach every project and every client relationship.

I began working in the architectural field in 2001, starting at the ground level in a small architecture office. Early on, my role involved whatever needed to be done—taking out the trash, running errands to engineers’ offices, grabbing lunches, and running blueprints on an old ammonia-based machine that left the whole office smelling for hours (fun times). I worked long days, some late nights, and early mornings, driven by the goal of one day running my own design office.

In 2006, that opportunity arrived when I became an owner and partner in a drafting and design firm with a close friend. Together, we built a successful residential design business in Southern Utah. However, like many small construction companies and design offices across the country, our firm was deeply affected by the Great Recession that began in 2008, ultimately forcing us to close.

In 2013, as the country began to recover, I founded Blackrock Home Design. The experience of building a business from the ground up—twice—shaped how I work today. I understand how important time, money, and clear communication are, not only for contractors but most importantly for homeowners making significant investments in their homes.

Today, I provide residential design and drafting services for custom homes, ADUs, and multi-family projects. My focus is on creating thoughtful, buildable designs that reflect how people truly live, while helping projects move efficiently from concept to construction. I believe good design should be honest, practical, and collaborative—rooted in trust, respect, and a strong understanding of everyone involved.
